Reminiscent

A waterfall, amidst the hills
A thousand metres above the ground
Lush green life hides the mouth,
Reminiscent of the beauty she was.
And the water falls, high above the cliff
Into the solid rocks below,
Bouncing off surfaces, splashes flying everywhere
The noise is heard, deafening.
Melancholy, parting the moist air
Shattering into a million directions,
Reminiscent of the stained mirror it was.
Wet, he opens his eyes, watches
The water trickling down
Into the deep crater below,
Reminiscent of the being he was…

Just A Man

I am a sinner, full of flaws
I live my life by the luck of draws
I make mistakes, like we all do
You never get that, do you?
For once, just try and understand
I still do the best I can
Have you forgotten,
I am just a man...

Getting back

Longing for warmth, standing
Out in the open, hoping for rains
Veiled behind the mist, waiting
Eager to fly, break the chains

Youthful again, cheerful again
Over and over, reminiscing while
Ushering in a new dawn, a new chapter of life

Jovial as I might be
Adamant as I might have to be
Able I am, I think, I believe
Nihilism can’t get to me, I am just born again…

My Little Boy

The toys lay in a perfect place,
Enveloped in a sheath of dust
As his eyes searched the shore,
Swayed by a wave of lust
Sturdy and straight he stood
And its a smile, he said just
As the soaked windowsills shed
Those entangled layers of rust.

There I sat, smiling all the while
As they reminded me of my little boy.

As he looked again for me,
And started running to the sea
Quick and swift he was,
As he chased down that stingy bee
In a spur of excitement, he fell
He fell, and bruised his knee
I leapt out for him, and suddenly I realised
He was no longer my little boy.

And what a day it was,
When he adorned those medals in plenty
'See Dad, the best one right here', he said
And kept it on my hand
'Here it is, Its yours', he whispered, 'I brought it for you'
He was my jewel, shining bright
With this, he hugged me tight
And then he slipped over to the ground,
I reached out, and helped
As he said 'I will always be your little boy'

Thinking of all of this, sitting right there, I watched
As they brought him over to me, silent, eyes closed
'Wake up son, I am here, and here's your medal'
But he didn't listen to any of it
As a tear slowly rolled down my cheek,
And the reality dawned on me
I paused. What became of my little boy...

The quest and the conquest

The sun goes red, the sky auburn,
Walks there a soul, masked,
A mime in his own right, a master of his own self.
And its a beauty that ensues, dark as the night
Of cloudless space, in starry skies,
The perfect amalgamation with the bright.
Reveals his aspect, tell his eyes
A tale, not long bygone, of memories
Still haunting in troubled times.
Stops his mind, hide his lips
The tale, let it be forgotten.
Their words still persuade, their steps still follow
He runs, he escapes,
Those shadows, of zeal unprecedented.
He smiles,
An emotion, falsified
They believe, they revert
Quiet, to their lives, to their tales,
He walks on.
It hardly leaves him,
When he lets it climb
Trembling, uneasy, wounded grave
He stands, overwhelmed.
The sea roars, the waves gush
Mighty, over the sand, gold yet cold
They recede, to their core
And he recedes, among the silent.
He smiles, genuine,
The smile that wins, the smile that glows,
He removes his mask,
She watches, her eyes dazzle,
She smiles, with him, for him,
And finally, he finds
A mind with peace
A heart with love
He stops.

A simple night's desire

The clear, serene night sky, beheld the twilight
Lighting up those weary streets,
They were a bunch of those exquisite fireflies.
The crescent moon, peeped in
Like an infant, through the clouds
The white, sparkling moonlight
Did waltz, dancing to the tune
Of those mighty waves.
The seagulls whistled to the sea
While the dolphins played, ecstasy,
A bunch of lillies bloomed in the distance
While the cool breeze sang aloud to me
The marauder's symphony.
The autumn leaves whistled past,
There I opened my eyes, to look into hers
And let myself drown, in her depths
Slowly, with a smile,
I let my eyes close,
She accepted me with open arms...

Tale of a bleeding heart

I have heard tales, forgotten
I have known men, begotten
I have traversed this mystery,
And returned with my tale of a bleeding heart

I stand here, on this icy pavement
I see people, rushing about, chasing dreams
And as my eyes meet those forgotten
Their lips recite this tale of a bleeding heart

I watch them drown, I watch them rise
I watch them grow, each to their might
I stand here, all through time, to hear them speak
As they recite to me, their tale of a bleeding heart

I did see his eyes when he stabbed him
I did see his pain when the blood shed
I did go and sit beside, to hold his hand
As he recited to me, his tale of a bleeding heart

And here shall I always stand
With hope abound, with pleasure unmatched
Looking in the same direction
Still reciting, my tale of a bleeding heart...
